Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a safe and gentle, yet powerful form of holistic medicine which stimulates your immune system into action when your body has been overwhelmed by mental/emotional and/or physical stresses.
Practiced worldwide for over 200 years, homoeopathy is based on the principle of like cures like which was developed by the brilliant physician and chemist Samuel Hahnemann, who found that a substance producing the symptoms of ill health in a healthy person would cure similar symptoms in ill health. He named this new system homoeopathy.
A simple example of this principle can be seen with the common onion., we know that when cutting a strong onion we often experience an acrid runny nose, a particular soreness in the throat and stinging, runny eyes; so a homeopath will prescribe Allium cepa (the homepathic remedy made from onion) for the patient who has a cold and bad throat with these particular symptoms.
Vital Force
Also fundamental to Homeopathy is the recognition that within each individual there lays an innate healing capacity or energy, that homoeopaths call the vital force (chi, prana). It is this vital force which produces symptoms on all levels in an effort to maintain the healthiest possible balance.
Homeopathically symptoms are viewed as an outward reflection of an internal disharmony, alerting us to the need to assist our body’s healing efforts. Symptoms can be expressed physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually, and just as each individual produces different symptoms on these levels, so does each homeopathic remedy.
Homeopaths understand that symptoms of illness are evidence of the bodys natural and automatic efforts to heal itself and these clues are used to guide them when prescribing a homeopathic remedy.
After initial preparation of the raw material the remedies are made by serial dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking) in a solution of alcohol and water. This is done a few (three to four) times or up to many thousands of times. The diluted remedies are described as being ‘potentised’, in recognition of the dynamic healing power they can stimulate.
How do homeopathic remedies work?
Frequently the dilution is so great that no chemical trace of the original substance remains but, if no chemical trace remains, how do the remedies work? There is abundant proof that the remedies do work but homoeopaths and scientists have yet to discover exactly why they work.
A precise answer is likely to be found outside the chemist laboratory in be field of physics, especially electro-magnetism. The process of dilution and succussion apparently imprints the characteristic energy pattern or blueprint, of the original substance onto the water in which it is diluted. This may be likened to the transmission of television signals where the original scene is converted into an electro-magnetic energy pattern (a signal) which can then be broadcast to your receiver.
A homeopathic remedy acts as a signal which energises or stimulates the bodys self-healing powers, mobilising the defence systems, working on the mental, emotional and physical aspects of the body.
