Allergies & Food Intolerances

At Passion, we offer a range of simple and noninvasive tests that can identify those foods and common substances that you need to avoid. We can test for:

  • Environmental allergies
  • Food intolerances
  • Vitamin & mineral assimilation
  • Hormonal imbalances

All tests are completely painless and do not utilise any type of needle.

Environmental Allergies

The standard environmental allergy test assesses your sensitivity to forty-four different substances, including:

  • Cat or dog hair and skin cells
  • Duck, goose and mixed feathers
  • Horse hair and mohair
  • Cotton and silk
  • Rubber
  • Paper tissues
  • Bee and wasp stings
  • Grass, tree, flower and shrub pollen
  • House dust mite
  • Hay, mattress and upholstery dust
  • Wheat
  • Wheat smut (diseased wheat)
  • Cigarette Smoke
  • Fibreglass
  • Oil or water based paints
  • Printer inks
  • Aspergillus fumigatus – a common fungus found in soil and decaying organic matter
  • Botrytis cinerea – a common plant fungus also known as grey mould

It is important to note that both the environmental allergy and food intolerance tests do not perform any chemical analysis, but monitor the energetic response of acupuncture points. The tests are non-invasive, totally painless and do not utilise needles of any type.

Food Intolerances

Food intolerances are quite different to allergies as the symptoms often appear many hours, even days after eating the problem food. With the delay in reaction, food intolerances tend to lead to longer term problems. See the box below for common complaints and the associated problem foods.

Food intolerances are very common and, unlike allergies, can be reversed. Once the problem foods are identified, they should be avoided for about three months. After this time the body usually becomes tolerant again and many health conditions can significantly improve in this time.

Do you suffer from an allergy?

An allergy is a disorder of the immune system that is a form of hypersensitivity. Allergic reactions can occur with a range of normally harmless substances and the effects can range from mild reactions such as a rash or hay fever to life-threatening symptoms in extreme cases.

Or a food intolerance?

An intolerance to certain foods is quite different to an allergy. The body's reaction is generally much slower and can be a factor in many longer term problems. Any of the following symptoms can indicate a food intolerance:

  • Anxiety
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Aching joints and muscles
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches and migraine
  • Sinus and mucus problems
  • Hyperactivity
  • Weight gain
  • Digestive disturbances, including IBS, indigestion, bloating and excessive gas
